Listen online or download all 15 Episodes of Season One.

Homosexuality: A Crisis of Truth, Audio Podcast 01
For many years, the crisis of truth we have faced and the on-going crisis is ultimately not about homosexuality. “The crisis” is the Lordship of Christ and the Authority of Scripture.

“I will praise your name for your loving kindness and your truth, for you have magnified your word above your name.” Psalm 138

The Myths of Homosexuality, Audio Podcast 02
Our second broadcast is titled “The Myths of Homosexuality” which covers questions like: Is homosexuality the worst of all sins; is homosexuality nothing more than just a choice; is homosexuality genetic; will marriage or dating fix the problem of same-sex attraction; and does tolerance mean approving of however anyone lives?

Silence Is Not An Option, Audio Podcast 03
Our third broadcast is titled “Silence Is Not An Option.” It is the clarity of the Holy Scriptures that should compel each and every faithful follower of Christ Jesus to be a light where there is darkness, rather than hiding our witness from those who need it.

Youth and Homosexuality, Audio Podcast 04
Our fourth broadcast is titled “Youth and Homosexuality.” Christian youth often find themselves caught in the middle. Do they hold to the instructions of Scripture, church, and parents or do they reject their faith convictions as outdated and accept a new morality?

Homosexuality and the Reality of Change, Audio Podcast 05
Our fifth broadcast is titled “Homosexuality and the Reality of Change.” Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, God has, is, and will be delivering men and women from the snare of same-sex attraction.

Where Does the Journey to Wholeness Begin? Audio Podcast 06
Our sixth broadcast is titled “Where Does the Journey to Wholeness Begin?” The Christian’s journey to sexual wholeness begins when you put God on the throne instead of self.

Homosexuality vs The Authority of Scripture, Audio Podcast 07
Our seventh broadcast is titled “Homosexuality vs The Authority of Scripture.” It is only through an atmosphere of hunger, utter dependency and willingness to obey God’s Word that He imparts His will and thereby empowers us to be over-comers.

Homosexuality and the Church pt1, Audio Podcast 08
Our eighth broadcast is titled “Homosexuality and the Church pt1.” Caution: Confrontation is not enough to change a heart. The heart, having been hardened through deception or rebellion or both, has to be softened. And that is the work of God alone. Ours is to speak God’s truth, trusting Him to make it alive in our hearers.

Homosexuality and the Church pt2, Audio Podcast 09
Our ninth broadcast is titled “Homosexuality and the Church pt2.” Caution: Confrontation is not enough to change a heart. The heart, having been hardened through deception or rebellion or both, has to be softened. And that is the work of God alone. Ours is to speak God’s truth, trusting Him to make it alive in our hearers.

Why I Cannot Accept the ‘Gay Christian’ Identity, Audio Podcast 10
Our tenth broadcast is titled “Why I Cannot Accept the ‘Gay Christian’ Identity.” As Christians, our relationship with God through Christ is the cornerstone of our identity. Today, many are being told, “Accept yourself and follow your heart.” However, Jesus says, “Deny yourself and follow Me.”

Now, It’s Personal! Audio Podcast 11
Our eleventh broadcast is titled “Now, It’s Personal!” Christians with gay-identified loved ones are often eager to share the Good News of Christ, but they wonder how they can do so without sounding judgmental. When someone you love is homosexual, you quickly become aware of your inability to face life’s challenges apart from the grace of God.

Letting Go, Audio Podcast 12
Our twelfth broadcast is titled “Letting Go”. As Christians, a huge challenge is giving our loved one over to the Lord. If our prayers go something like, “God, do this,” or “God, don’t allow this,” our prayers need to become, “Lord, I ask you to bring my loved one to You in any way You choose.” Letting go goes against our very nature. However, if we want God to work in the situation, we must let Him do it His way.

How Do We Love Them Like Jesus? Audio Podcast 13
Our thirteenth broadcast is titled “How Do We Love Them Like Jesus?” The Gospel of John is clear in its description of Jesus. Jesus was 100% grace and 100% truth. He never erred on one side or the other. If we are truly to represent Christ’s heart and mind to the sexually broken, we must be equally balanced in those two critical areas as well.

Questions and Answers, Audio Podcast 14
Our fourteenth broadcast is titled “Questions and Answers”. For many, homosexuality isn’t just a social issue, it’s very personal. Our “Questions and Answers” broadcast offers straightforward, godly, and compassionate insights into the subject of homosexuality by providing a series of questions that many want to ask but are often reluctant to voice.

A Christian Response to Homosexuality, Audio Podcast 15
Our fifteenth broadcast is titled “A Christian Response to Homosexuality”. The faithful Christian Church is called by God to assert its Biblical position that sexuality is God’s good gift – sexually chaste relationships are both possible and desireable – and that sexual passion is designed to be expressed only between a man and a woman in the context of a life-time marriage.

It is by no means a secret that American culture has and continues to drift far, far from standards of sexual morality found in the Bible.

Instead of sexual standards (holy boundary lines established by God Himself) we all are to live within, our culture has embraced and continues to promote other views all fundamentally opposed to Biblical sexual morality.

None of the alternatives to God’s standards regarding human sexuality can be right unless the Bible is completely wrong.

Therefore, if the Bible is right, then any and all alternatives must be wrong.

We have all heard the saying, “The darkest hour is just before dawn.”

We are there.

The Church in America is now fully immersed in moral darkness with other around-the-world churches fully engulfed in the same because they have and are now following our example.

To a large degree, the dismissing, the disregard of bringing both truth and grace together has enabled and continues to fuel the vacuum of sexual brokenness and decadence.

Many continue to be deceived under the guise, “it just isn’t proper to discuss such issues in or around the church.”

Today, the wave upon wave of new legislation doing its utmost to fully and completely muzzle the Church has already tragically caused many to “to seek middle ground hoping to ride out troubling waters and not be caught in the wash.” A religious travesty.

Some Christian leaders foresee an imminent revival. I hope they are right.

What to do?

Return to believing the Bible and trust its inerrancy from beginning to end.

If we allow that the Bible contains errors, then we remain just a couple of steps away from allowing anything and everything.

To allow, to excuse, to make room for any form of sin based on society’s acceptance and endorsement is to challenge, question and contest the Bible’s authority in every area of life.

For some of us, World AIDS Day is not just on December 1st of each year, but rather each and every day of the year.

The phone conversation occurred in 1995. Frank, my very best and only surviving friend of a group of 22 men, called from the hospital in San Francisco. Immediately, I knew something was very wrong.

In 1985, I moved from San Francisco back to Bakersfield, when in October of that year I surrendered my life to Christ and everything got turned upside-down – actually, right-side up.

There was nothing short of a miraculous desire to get to church and remain in church. The only thing I wanted to read was the Bible, attend classes and always be among Christian men and women, worship, and talk, talk, talk, talk, about Jesus.

Occasionally, I would talk to Frank on the phone to check on how life was going. However, our conversations became more and more strained because all I wanted to talk about was the Bible and what was going on at church. Frank, on the other hand, wanted to talk about the party last night and all that went on.

Drifting apart we most definitely were but continued to maintain a long-distance connection if only to hear one another’s voice for a few seconds. We had been close good friends for many years in San Francisco.

One afternoon I received a phone call at work from Frank. His voice was extremely weak but he still managed to say, “Phillip, we don’t understand what has happened to you but you have found something, and whatever it is, keep it up. Keep it up because you have found something. Do it for me and the others. Whatever you do don’t ever come back to this. Promise me, Philip.”

I promise, Frank.

Two days after my last phone conversation with Frank, his mother called to tell me he had passed away.

So, so many are gone, and they left much too soon.

I made a promise. A promise I intend to keep.

How is it that many American Christians consider sharing the Gospel as an optional extra? For the sake of clarity, by sharing the Gospel I am referring to something much more than a post on Facebook. And, for further clarification, sharing the Gospel is not to proclaim or advance the claims of a church, of a nation, of an ideology, but of Jesus Himself.

How is it possible to acknowledge Jesus as Lord if we take no notice of what He has told us to do?

Christians, all Christians, are to “…declare the wonderful deeds of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were no people but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy.” (1 Peter 2:9-10)

America and the Church are now facing a challenge, if not a test, which questions our ability and resilience to stand against internal and external forces which threaten to further divide and pull apart. On a much, much deeper level, it comes down to every Christian (a faithful follower of all the teachings of Christ Jesus) willing to make hard choices?

In today’s world, we cannot afford to sit back and hope that the relatively few full-time ministers of the Word accomplish the task alone. The fulfillment of Christ’s great command to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15) is the shared responsibility of every individual who calls Christ Savior and Lord.

As a history student, I am recalling that during the Depression people clearly understood the serious choices before them: pull your hair out and jump out of a window, as some stockbrokers did after the crash in 1929 or unite and work together to see things change, restored and improve.

Change, true change in America and the Church will take place when we surrender to a unifying sense of a clear enemy. To neglect or dismiss the existence of the anti-God force the Bible calls Satan, the devil, Beelzebub, and the prince of this world, is to make allowance for evil to advance and thrive. There is a devil and he is out to spoil and mar God’s world in every way he can.

Call me a dreamer but I continue to believe in the greatness of America and the power and influence of God’s vehicle to reach wounded, broken, hurting humanity – the Church. That said, I remain a realist knowing if people remain unwilling to break with the habits of the past, rethink the future, and act anew, we will no doubt witness further divide and fall.

A mission, any mission for Christ Jesus involves unity. It would be a very, very wonderful thing for the world to see that what unites the Christian community is so much greater than what divides us.

The question I pose is not meant to be blunt or insensitive.

Are you a Christian?

If your answer is “Yes!” please do not be selfish with the Gospel.

The Apostle Paul said to the Corinthians, “If our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

Clearly, those who do not know Christ are perishing. They have not perished yet, but they are on their way. Men, women, and children are perishing, captive, and blind to both their predicament and to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Ultimately, this is all about people. Men and women are lost without Jesus Christ.

Psalm 16:11 says, “In thy presence there is fulness of joy, in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.” Indeed, these are difficult and challenging times. However, there is no joy on earth to compare with that of leading an individual to Christ.

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me” (John 14:6).

Today, the change many hope and pray for in our world today will only come about through our willingness to pay the price for it. It will require each and every one of us leaving the safety and comfort of the church.

Yes, our obedience to and for the Gospel will bring us into conflict with the principalities and powers of this world. However, if we are truly going to be bearers of the Good News, we must always be sensitive and kind to others, even though we might disagree with them.

Conflicts are absolutely an inevitable part of life. How we handle and resolve them will demonstrate the extent to which we understand the richness of the Gospel and God’s reconciling love.

You and I are not here at this time by chance. God has brought each of us here for a purpose. I hope and I pray God the Father will challenge and inspire each of us to be a more faithful and effective witness to Jesus Christ in the midst of a world that does not know Him.

“Not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” (Zechariah 4:6)

In America and in a world that remains starved for heroes and leaders, in a world that remains saturated by debates and opinion polls, I remain comforted in knowing the Bible continues to point beyond “us” to the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Today, the ultimate and obvious question remains not, “What is the answer?” It is, “Who is the answer?”

“The gay agenda” is a phrase that implies a uniform social and political agenda shared by all homosexuals. It also implies there is something inherently wrong in having an agenda.

Both points are untrue.

There is great diversity among homosexuals, including political and social diversity. For that reason, no one agenda could be, nor is it, shared by all homosexuals, although it is fair to say there are some past goals — same-sex marriage, acceptance of gays in the military and so on — that have been common to the political gay rights movement, even if they are not shared by all homosexual people.

However, to promote the idea that the gay community is a united front in terms of gay rights or even the word “gay” to denote homosexual practice is inaccurate and an illusion.

Around the world, there is great, great diversity within gay communities when it comes to the promotion of gay rights and homosexual practice.

Homosexuals, or anyone else for that matter, do not have the right to have no one disagree with them on the morality of homosexuality. Nor do they have the right to be free from “attitudinal discrimination” regarding their sexual orientation. But neither does anyone else have such a right.

Indeed, every citizen has a right to his or her own biases and prejudices, as long as they do not impinge upon the fundamental rights of another person or class. This is what it means to live in a society in which the freedoms of speech, religion (and belief) and privacy are guaranteed. Homosexuals have the right, as do others, to believe that homosexual behavior should be accepted as normal.

Simply put, legislators have been telling California Christians, (California Christian leadership, in particular) for some time now to ignore, and dismiss The Lordship of Christ and The Authority of Scripture, disregard, be disobedient to the Lord’s will, reject the testimonies of thousands of ex-gays and bow to political correctness regarding ‘gay’ and related issues.

They do not have the right to demand everyone agree with them.

Be careful to separate issues from the person or people.

Many, if not most teens, want someone they can talk to, someone they can trust.

At best, the teenage years are trying. These are the years of internal conflict when sexual identity is still being shaped. Sexual curiosity and experimentation are commonplace but often lead to more confusion and wrong conclusions regarding sexuality.

When it comes to the topic of homosexuality, youth always have the best questions. Questions that deserve a complete and truthful answer rather than what normally is presented through movies, television, and the Internet.

Questions from youth, as you’d expect, cover a range of topics. What are the contributing factors to the brokenness of same-sex attraction? How do I approach someone I believe is struggling with their sexuality? Is it true HIV/AIDS continues to greatly impact the gay community? How do I share the Gospel with my gay-identified friend? As a Christian, should I attend a same-sex marriage ceremony? How do I address someone born one gender but identifies as the opposite gender? Is change possible for the gay and transgender person?

Today, confusion about sexual orientation is all too common during adolescence. As a result, it is risky to label teenagers “gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender” before they have the wisdom of adulthood and the opportunity to make a fully informed choice. Ultimately, when a teenager is prematurely “labeled,” there is a serious risk of “mislabeling” a portion of sexually confused youth.

Many factors can possibly lead a struggling or questioning youth into homosexual behavior or sexual identity confusion. Such as curiosity, a feeling of not fitting in, the horrific tragedy of being molested, and the desire for attention and a sense of belonging.

Today, I remain extremely concerned that youth, including Christian youth, are not getting all the facts with regard to the many facets of human sexuality in order to make a truly informed and godly decision about sexual identity.

When our path crosses with a struggling youth, we must be open to partnering with the Lord Jesus to help turn the tide in his or her life. During adolescence, most people determine the morals and personal identity they will embrace for the remainder of their life. As a result, much confusion and challenges will take place before any semblance of clarity comes. This is all the more true for youth deciding their sexual identity.

The teenage years are a crucial period for the Church of Jesus Christ to speak to youth tempted by the various and numerous forms of sexual and relational brokenness.

I submit that society, and sometimes the Church, is unwittingly promoting social experiments and various behaviors with no justification in reality and, with all probability enabling inevitable serious moral problems with potentially tragic consequences.

In trying to ascertain the rightness or wrongness of any behavior or misguided identity, it seems to me the determining factor should be consequence, not cause.

We are the ones who bear the responsibility to act if the Lord brings a struggling teen into our lives.

Balancing Truth and Grace with Landon Schott pt1, Audio Podcast S02E10
Landon Schott, author of Gay Awareness: Discovering the Heart of the Father and the Mind of Christ on Sexuality is Pastor Phillip Lee’s special guest on the His Way Out Ministries KERI 1410AM Radio Broadcast. Landon shares how the Holy Spirit led him to tackle the subject of homosexuality in written form, the importance of a balance of both “truth and grace” regarding same-sex attracted men and women, and are there any Scriptures that approve of or validate homosexual practice?

Defining Our Identity with Landon Schott pt2, Audio Podcast S02E12
Landon Schott, author of Gay Awareness: Discovering the Heart of the Father and the Mind of Christ on Sexuality joins Pastor Phillip Lee for a second His Way Out Ministries Radio Broadcast to discuss: Does that which tempts us define our identity as Christians? Is the answer to homosexuality – heterosexuality, or holiness? and God’s view of same-sex marriage.

All past episodes of His Way Out Ministries Radio Broadcast are available by following THIS LINK or selecting the “Audio Podcast” category on the right.

“Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. ‘Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?'” Matthew 16:24-26 The Message (MSG)

1. Jesus must be put first in all matters of life. (Mark 8:34-38) The homosexual struggler must take a purposed and deliberate step to be set apart from the world. The individual’s focus must be on the Lord Jesus and pleasing Him in every area of life. In other words, put off self-centeredness and put on Christ-centeredness.

2. Follow all the teachings of Jesus. (John 8:31-32) Our obedience to the Father must be like that of a child which enables our being doers of the Word. Obedience is the supreme test of faith in God. (1 Samuel 28:18)

3. Expect change. (John 15:5-8) As a disciple (even those that combat same-gender attraction), our job is to abide in Christ, and “if” we do, the Holy Spirit will produce change, with change being the result of our obedience. As we become more obedient to the Lord and purposed to walk in all of His ways, our lives change. The biggest change will take place in our hearts resulting in new conduct (thoughts, words, and actions), all being representative of “change.” Ultimately, the change we all seek in our lives occurs from the inside out, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

4. Clearly, from 1 John 3:10 and 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, we see that love is not just an emotion; it is an action. We must be doing something and involved in the process of discipleship. The attitude for the homosexual struggler as well as those desiring to help or minister to those combating same-gender attraction must be fueled by the motivation of ‘love.’ When it comes to the complexities of life (including homosexuality and related issues), our ‘attitude’ should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.

5. Making disciples of others. (Matthew 28:18-20) Too often, the homosexual struggler and those that have left homosexuality are reluctant to share their faith and tell nonbelievers about the wonderful changes Jesus has made in their lives. No matter what our maturity level in Christian life, we have something to offer. Frankly, some of the most enthusiastic representatives of Christian life are new believers who have just discovered the awesome love of God. While they may not know what they’re saying goodbye to “gay” fully means, they have experienced the love of God and want to share their new found lives and identify in Christ with others.

Admittedly, deliverance from homosexuality or any habit, addiction or compulsive behavior, for that matter, comes from a Person and not a method. That said, I am concerned we have gotten far away from the command and calling of our Lord to “disciple” – especially, to the homosexual struggler. Heaven knows Christians throughout the ages have had sinful habits to overcome and misbeliefs to replace with truth.

I submit that the same Christian ‘disciplines’ that have helped a multitude will also help those struggling with same-gender attraction.

The greatest crisis in our lives just may be the surrendering of our will.
