There’s Something I Need To Tell You!

Pastor Phillip Lee will be conducting an educational workshop at Valley Baptist Church in Bakersfield, California entitled, “There’s Something I Need To Tell You! (When a Loved One Confesses They Are Homosexual)”

Issues that Pastor Lee will discuss include: What do you say and do when a loved one confesses they are homosexual? Scripturally-speaking, what do we know about homosexuality? Does it matter ‘why’ the person you love is homosexual? Going on as a parent. Setting boundaries. Testimonies. Understanding homosexuality.

As a Christian you are not just representing yourself to your loved one. As a Christian, you are representing Christ.

This workshop will offer practical steps and information to help you understand your loved one, guidance to keep the lines of communication open without compromising your beliefs, and present the Biblical position on homosexuality.

You can register online through the Valley Baptist Calendar page located HERE. Select “Open Registrations” and on the next page select “‘There’s Something I Need to Tell You’ Workshop”.

Season 3, Episode 10
Pastor Phillip Lee is joined by his special guest Pastor Brandon Holthaus, Senior Pastor of Rock Harbor Church here in Bakersfield.

A church is a family, with all of its diversity, and no two churches are exactly the same. Today, when it comes to the subject of homosexuality, congregations appear to be all over the map. Gay affirming, fearful, gay bashing, and complacent churches, as well as churches that are still sold out to Christ’s way. Why do you suppose the Church has become so diverse on this matter?

Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago!

I arrived late last night safe ‘n sound with all flights operating as scheduled. PTL!

Are the flights getting longer or am I just getting older? Never mind!

Actually, my arrival was preceded by a wonderful article written by journalist, Joel Juien, with The Guardian Newspaper here in Port of Spain, capital of the two-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. The article titled ‘Reach out in love’ to the LGBTQI community appeared in last Sunday’s edition and I am thrilled with the article content. Why?

Because it is fair, balanced, clothed in Christ’s love and ACCURATE.

The issue of how the Church relates to persons from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex (LGBTQI) community has been a primary focus of The Guardian Newspaper for the past couple of weeks.

While the article does offer the personal path I took on leaving homosexuality in October of 1985, a great deal of attention is dedicated to finding “a new lease on life,” “finding love in the Church” and “the Bible instructs us to respond to people with compassion, hope and help.”

As yet, I have not found a web link to the article but I will continue trying and post it should I locate a link.

Ultimately, the article concludes by offering, “Of course, as followers of Christ, the practice of homosexuality should never be encouraged or affirmed. However, when any man or woman has the courage and the integrity to disclose their battle with same-sex attraction, that in and of itself should never be taken lightly and ultimately viewed as an opportunity to share Christ’s love and acceptance for and to the individual.”

“Each and every faithful follower of Christ Jesus can take part in changing history, by reaching out in love, forgiveness and understanding because the crisis of homosexuality will not be solved by politics, science or the media. The solution is in your hands and mine, within our hearts, inside our minds and most definitely by our actions.”

Each Saturday morning beginning at 7:00am, His Way Out Ministries offers a 30-minute broadcast dedicated to equipping, educating and encouraging the Body of Christ to reach out and minister to individuals, families, and churches impacted by the brokenness of same-sex attraction.

Season 3, Episode 9
Join Pastor Phillip Lee and Carol Wagstaff, founder of Living Stones Ministries for part 2 of their discussion on Homosexuality and the Family. What does the Bible say about homosexual practice? Do men and women choose to be gay? What about the “I am a gay Christian” statement? Why do some still question if change is possible? Is the ultimate goal for the homosexual, heterosexuality?

Season 3, Episode 8
Pastor Phillip Lee welcomes Carol Wagstaff, founder of Living Stones Ministries. Carol shares her testimony of how homosexuality impacted her marriage and family. We also discuss how parents begin to pick up the pieces after learning of a child’s same-sex attraction. Critically important for families to understand the difference between “acceptance and approval.”

Season 3, Episode 7
Join Pastor Phillip Lee with ministry partner and friend, Will Winn, for part two of their discussion, “What Does It Mean to Be Single and Christian?”

So much in our society is structured around couples. It’s often just assumed that adults will have a partner and that there is something odd about them if they don’t. However, it is remarkable how positive the New Testament is about singleness. In 1 Corinthians 7:7, Paul speaks of it as a ‘gift’ and Jesus says it is good “for those to whom it has been given.” (Matthew 19:11)

Happy New Year 2018

At His Way Out Ministries we believe we have a mandate and a calling to bring understanding to the confusing issue of homosexuality. Indeed, it is past due to set many records straight and provide answers to key questions, separating fact from fiction. Are people born with same-sex attraction? Did God make them that way? Did they choose to have same-sex attraction? Does God really love those who experience homosexual feelings? How do we respond to same-sex attracted family members, friends, co-workers and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ?

Therefore, His Way Out Ministries remains dedicated to communicating a message of hope that change is possible for those struggling with same-gender desires, we refuse to be silent about the truth, and we remain steadfast in believing people have a choice with regard homosexual practice.

His Way Out Ministries remains committed to equipping churches and Christians to minister the truth and grace of Jesus to men and women impacted by homosexuality. This includes equipping them to hold to all that Scripture teaches, avoid partial gospels and understand how Scripture instructs us to respond to people with compassion, hope and help.

I remain convinced if Jesus were here today He would reach out in love to men and women struggling with same-gender attraction and require His Church to treat the same with dignity and respect. I also believe that Jesus would seek and work towards providing a safe environment for those struggling with same-gender attraction, an environment we are purposed to continue providing at His Way Out Ministries, without fear of condemnation or persecution.

Of course, as followers of Christ, the practice of homosexuality should never be encouraged or affirmed. However, when any man or woman has the courage and the integrity to disclose their battle with same-gender attraction, that in and of itself should never be taken lightly and ultimately viewed as an opportunity to share Christ’s love and acceptance for and to the individual. The delicate balance is our willingness as Ambassadors for Christ to keep the lines of communication open and enter into a relationship without compromising truth or love. It means not backing down from the truth of Scripture and remaining dedicated to reaching men and women in a Christ-like way. Since love is basic to Christianity, His love must be extended to all people – including those that struggle with homosexuality; that, I remain convinced, is exactly what Jesus would do.

Each of us can either be part of the problem by not taking any action, or we can participate in changing history by reaching out in love, forgiveness, and understanding. Ultimately, the crisis of homosexuality will not be solved by politics, science, or the media. The solution is in your hands and mine, within our hearts, inside our minds, and most definitely by our actions. Ultimately, as we are on the threshold of a new year, all of us at His Way Out Ministries believe the Scriptures contain the final truth and authority concerning all matters of morality and present Jesus Christ as the One who has the power to release people from the snare of same-gender attraction.

It is therefore our goal and vision to proclaim this truth of freedom through the Lord Jesus Christ in 2018.

Believing in Him and You,
Pastor Phillip Lee
